&lt;p&gt;After removing the first fret it was clear to see that the surround had long since perrished so I removed the driver and began to clean it up. It was only then that i noticed the tilt of the cone and how much it was rubbing. There seems to be tighter tollerances of the voice coil compared to the CX50s - although it does seem to move freely without rubbing if you get it in the &amp;#39;sweet spot&amp;#39; - however, the cone is not level in this position.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;If I refoam in this state surely the surround will pull the cone out of true and the coil will rub? - is there anything I can do to remedy this (the speaker cases and frets are in really good condition so want to try and save them).&lt;/p&gt;
