I have Ni-MH batteries in my BeoLink 7000, without any problems yet. But the ones I have installed are 700 mAh, just a bit higher capacity than the original. I ordered them at Conrad, ordernumber 255670.

It's probably the charging method. If a dumb charger is dimensioned so that it won't cook NiCd batteries no matter how long you charge them, it'll never get NiMH batteries full.

That's what I heard Olly.

As Graham has mentioned above this will cause them to work for a limited period of time until the charges last less & less before falling off the edge. Again I am only stating what I've heard a few times so it isn't from 1st hand experience. I have no reason to dispute it & I cannot think anyone would simply make it up.

Apparently not Olly, something to do with the charge/discharge rate.

Could be fact, could be bull sh1t, certainly it has come from a number of sources over the years.

I replaced my BL7000 battery with a newly made kit which I acquired from Thorsten Janz in Germany (eBay handle: netsroht66). It works like a charm. As I just discovered that he offers this item again, I'll post a direct link to eBay auction 270789375653 . Worldwide shipping and the price is fixed at EUR 24.90.

I replaced the battery pack with new cells. I soldered them together (like the original) and used the power cable from the original pack. The originals were Sanyo Cadnica 1.2v 700mAh, new ones were (by surprise) also Sanyo Cadnica, this time 1100 mAh. Even higher capacity ones were available but out of stock at the time I bought them.

Has been working perfectly. The battery compartment is a bit tight so no much space for alterations.

You need a 5 cell, 6 volt Ni Cad battery pack (Ni MH batteries will work for a while but not for long apparently).

I'm not sure if B&O can still supply these, but they will be expensive even if they do. I would suggest obtaining a battery pack from another source (eg a model shop) & swapping the plug connector.

what is the battery of BeoLink 7000? Is it hard to find?
