Thanks for your reply. I worried that the Polks would somehow make the 8000 work too hard.

You can use the 8000 with any passive speaker - you will need some 2 pin DIN speaker plugs. The Polk speakers you have will be fine. The 8000 produces 150W per channel so it would be best to have speakers that can handle this sort of output - that power is into 8 ohms.

You can fit a passive subwoofer eith through the normal speaker cables and the other speakers would connect to the sub woofer (the best idea) or by running the output from the speaker 2 connections. A powered sub woofer would not be my choice though some can accept powered input and have a resistive input.

Hi everyone.

I've recently become an owner of a Beomaster 8000 and so far it has just been sitting around till I figured out what type of speakers to use with it. I have to admit that I have little to no experience with audio components. I pretty much bought the 8000 after falling in love/lust with the way it looked. It seems to be a decently powered unit, so my question is: What type of speaker can I safely use with it?

Right now I only have an old pair of Polk RTA 11T's. I THINK they are rated at 250wpc. I've googled info on pairing up receiver power to speaker power and the whole thing still mystifies me. Can I safely use the Polks with the 8000?

Thought I'd come here and hopefully get answers from people who know about the 8000 specifically.

ALSO.. the Polks have a pretty great low range/bass sound, but is there any way to hook up a sub to the 8000 in addition to the towers?

Maybe a powered sub? Would that in any way work in one of the extra 2-pin din sockets?

Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
