Had to fit the two back togther and realign the flywheel so that everything would open close and load in proper sequence.

As I recall it was a fairly easy fix.

The other possibility is the contacort is out of kilter a bit. I have had that happen as well.

Re: CD 50 problem

I have located the problem to the contact which is driven by the big gear wheel.
Give everyting a good cleaning.

I use deoxit on the electronic components then Isopropol on everything else

I was thinking from memory that the contacts are visible when the laser block is al the way forward at the start play position.

Re: CD 50 problem

Eugene:

Maybe this will help. In the photo you can see two sets of contacts. an upper set and a lower set on the left side.

I would look at the lower set on the left side. I had one with the same problem and cleaned and adjusted that set of contacts. solved the problem and it hasnt been a problem ever since. I really like the sound the CD50 produces and I also think it looks a little better than the later versions.

Worth fixing if you have the time and patience fro fiddly type work. If not look into a CD 5500.

Thanks Eugene. I have been away for some time so I had not seen your reply. I have loosened the four screws that hold the laser, but I can't remove it because of the four black "hooks".
