Thanks for the warm welcome and comprehensive answer Chris, you have solved all my queries in one swipe. I'll take your advice and steer clear of ebay for a new cartridge/stylus and check out www.sound-smith.com.

Hi Alan - welcome to Beoworld

1. No - the cartridge/stylus is an integrated unit.

2. No.

3. Yes - any of the MMC20 range will fit (also the MMC10E). The MMC3000 to 6000 range will fit but these will be very old & probably have shot suspension. The MMC1 to MMC5 range will NOT fit as they have totally different connections - pins as opposed to a spade.

4. The only real place I would recommend for new cartridges is www.sound-smith.com in the USA. They aren't cheap though but are brilliiant & hand built. You could also get your original cartridge rebuilt by Axel in Germany (send an email - his English is excellent apparently) but again not cheap on student wages. This will also depend on whether all channels are working - if not then it is only fit for the bin I'm afraid.

Of course there is always ebay but I wouldn't personally recommend this as they are all aged now & even so called NOS (new old stock) ones are likely to fail due to hardened suspension.

B&O Beogram 2402 Record Player

Hi,

Firstly I am new to the world of B&O, so forgive my ignorance. I have recently (actually over a year ago) inherited a B&O Beogram 2402 Record player, and want to get it working to listen to some of my grandad's records, unfortuntately the stylus seems to be completely missing. Naturally I started searching the internet for a replacement stylus and they seem to be rather expensive. FYI the turntable originally comes with a MMC 20EN Cartridge. So my questions are as follows:

1. Can non B&O stylus' be used with this turntable?

2. If not can non B&O cartridges be used with this turntable?

3. If not can other B&O cartridges be used, such as the MMC 20S?

4. Where is the best place to buy such things?

I am a student the cost is of paramount importance at the moment, thanks.
