Not just misadjusted but actually defective.

The fault doesn't change sides when I swap the 'speakers & appears on both sets of outputs. The volume control is a little scratchy in places, but there are many 'sweet spots'; while the distortion is always on the left & is present at all volumes that I have tried.
I had hoped for an easy answer... but having checked the easy things I expect to have to do some disassembly.
Any advice gratefully received!

Re: Beomaster 6000 distortion.

There's always the possibility of a main volume pot contact issue, mine suffered from that. I decided to have a look at some of my spare equipment. My Beomaster 6000 (the sloping-front model) has the expected problems with the motor-driven volume control (I will get round to re-threading the display when I can find my third hand...) but the biggest concern is serious distortion on the left channel. I am tempted to blame output transisters or capacitors in the output stages, but would welcome any advice on where to start from others who have encountered similar problems.
