So far, very nice indeed! I'm starting to think that its the 8000 that may have to be sacrificed. That way I could keep the 6000 which was my first proper B&O purchase and I have become quite attached to. Peter, Do you think that the 5000 could drive the Pentas satisfactorily.

I have what I regard as the collection of the best older B&O products, having thinned down my collection considerably. This includes:

Beolab 5000 system

Beolab 8000 system

Beosystem 4400

Beosystem 7000

The one I would keep would be the Beolab 5000 system. Just better made than all the others - the 8000 system is very good sounding but the materials are most disappointing. The 7000 system is all in boxes but the other systems are out and work. The 8000 gets the least use and the 5000 system the most of those listed.

It's the classic collector's dilemma: WAF (wife approval factor)!

I'd keep the lot if I could, but if you have to part with the 5000 then drop me a message :)

Well I will keep you in mind because I am not sure which system to keep. At the moment I have a Beolab 8000 system on its stand, the Beolab 5000 system and my trusty BM6000 with CDX all in one room (not that big a room either) and am getting shouted at quite often! I am torn between the 8000 and the 5000 and know that whichever I get rid of I will regret it. They all look so good that I want to keep them all but I think it would be the death of me!!

Women seem to like the newer B&O stuff as its so elegant but try to explain that M150's are better than BL8000's and I get blank looks.

I'd be interested to hear thoughts on this too. The Beolab 5000 is the last thing I need to tick off my wanted list now, after five years of patient collecting. I use a BM8000 with my BV Pentas, but should I ever get that elusive 5000 system I would probably swap the 8000 out for the 5000 and use it with the Pentas for a while :)

Does anyone use Beovox Pentas with there Beolab 5000 system. I am thinking of doing it with mine and just wondered if anyone had any opinions. I would have thought the 5000 had enough oomph for Pentas and the styling is more in keeping for what I am after.

I have connected them up and they sound good but wanted to gather others opinions.
