Thanks for you input. Interesting that you say they are very similar. I really like my S80 but often wonder would I get (considerably) more punch with something like an M150... sometimes though this is just random wants.... I would also keep the S80 as an additional pair should I get something larger and perhaps use them in the dining area.

Glad I could help and good to hear its all come together and you managed to get that system up and running.... !

Actually truth be known, I am a bit jealous .... I still remember I saw the listing, it was not long after I bought my system from Denmark and kicked myself for not being more patient! ... I'm sure the shipping from Oz to Singapore would have been much much cheaper (not to mention the actual system price)... and i would also have gotten the 150 speakers, which actually would look (and possibly sound) better in the much larger apartment I have now, cause my S80s look a little small ..... But, well thats life!

Take care,

It will be fantastic if you can provide me with some cover dimensions.

As I mentioned in the message above, the lower grill cover measured on the outside of the aluminium trim is 319mm wide by 399mm high. Presumably, the width of the upper cover is the same 319mm and what I now need to know is the height of the upper cover and the spacing between the two covers. This is going to be somewhere around 10mm.

If you can measure these (to the nearest 1mm) on your speakers that would be great.

Thanks for your help

I have had them since 2006 and they still sound great.

I use them with my Beomaster 8000 which I found 2 years later so I never got around to be using Beovox MS150 as first I did not have space and now I need Beolab 6000 and 8000 more for surround for my Beovision AV9000. If I use volume 3.1 on the Beomaster 8000 I get complaints so there is no need for more.

The covers needs to be looked after as the plugs are nearly all broken but I can measure them for you.

Yes, I continue to fiddle around with that system and it is getting closer to perfection all the time. The BM8000 now works well and the faulty displays have been fixed along with other minor problems. That receiver now sounds good and looks great. The BC9000 is also working very well but I am using a BC8002 with the BM8000 at the moment because I prefer to have a set of uniform silver control buttons and it just looks better. I am also putting the final touches to the BG8002, it plays well but suffered from assembly abuse in the past. Most of that has now been fixed and I only really need to get a better quality stylus.

There were a few faulty keys on the remote but they have been sorted out as well. There was very little wrong with the CDX player, just a broken arm which was easily repaired and that now plays CD's very well. A tape input selector box was also provided as well so I can use the CDX and beolink wireless as alternative sources on the Tape2 input. All of this is currently playing through some Beovox Pentas as the main speakers and I can use the M150's on speaker 2 when I'm in the mood for a change. The CX75's were in very poor condition and are sitting on the edge of the scrap bin. On the other hand, the CX100's only needed one new driver and a refoam to get them working nicely.

There you have it, not bad for a cheap second hand system - it really does work extremely well and has come together nicely. The only single drawback is the fact that the CDX does not respond to a remote and I have to use two remotes when listening to NMusic from the beoport. Otherwise, I am ecstatic with the results and I hasn't cost me much either.

Thanks for the tip, I will send Friedmett a message and see if I can get him to help with the speaker measurements. It will be fun to play around with their appearance and they do sound good.

Keep in touch

Regards

I gather your putting the finishing touches to that 8000 system you got!

I'm not fortunate to have M150's (I'd actually really like a pair), but I recall member Friedmett has a pair, perhaps you could drop him a PM and he might be able to assist.

I have an excellent set of the old Beovox M150.2 speakers, looking good and sounding great. However, they were acquired with the two upper speaker grills missing. Since my prospects of finding two replacement grills is probably very low, I have decided to make some myself using a good grade speaker cloth, some aluminium angles and a Perspex frame. All I need is the correct dimensions. If my design works, then I want to try to make an alternative set with different colours to make the speakers more stunning in our environment.

The lower grill measured on the outside of the aluminium trim is 319mm wide by 399mm high, so I presume that the width of the upper grill is the same at 319mm. What I now need to know is the height of the upper grill and the spacing between the two grills which appears to be somewhere around 10mm.

Can anyone who has these speakers provide me with the correct measurements. That would be a great help for this project.
