Some US enthusiasts actually used a glass platter with the radial marking made from strips of black tape. The one I have seen was mirrored and had a record clamp fitted!

Re: Any thoughts on refinishing the platter on Beogram 8000

Hi Peter,

Good hearing from you again. Curious about what you meant by levelling a 6002 or 8002? Are the platters thicker?

I would suggest a new platter is definitely the way forward though. I do not think that you will be happy with the result of removing and replacing the ribs. Look for a broken 8000 or even a 8002. A 6002 should work as well but both this and the 8002 will need to be levelled.

Any thoughts on refinishing the platter on Beogram 8000

Hello Everyone,

I accidently tired cleaning the platter on my Beogram 8000 with alcohol and it removed the finish. Has anyone removed the black plastic ribs that are on the platter before or can they be removed so one could repaint the platter with a clear coat?

I haven't been able to find a source for a second hand platter which would have been an alternative.

Regards,
