The mid tone speakers have rubber surrounds, unlike the bass units.

They can also be a sod to remove, so its not worth doing, unless like me you replaced the front half of the speakers and had to move everthing across to the new ones.

Re: RL140 renovation, midtone question

Thanks Brian and Martin,

So I don't need to speculate about renovating the middletone speker, nice to know. Next step will be renovating the crossover with new capacitors.

I'm currently replacing the foam on my RL140's woofers. The first two are finish and works well, no center problem.

Now I'm wondering, if the midtone ITT speaker has to be done. Why I'm asking, is that I can't get the speaker out of the cab. I have opened the seperate midtone cab and removed the four screws from the speaker, but it seems the the speaker is also glued to the front. I don't want to try remove it to find out the speaker is a rubber speaker and don't need repair.

Any able to tell, if the midtone is rubber or foam and need to be repaired. If foam, how to get it loose from the glue?

Best regards
