Infact I had considered this, getting a carpenter to re-veneer the trims. Only thought was trying to match the veneer (B&O Rosewood/Palisander) might prove a little challenging and this was my intent to come closer to the speakers veneer grain. So the thinking was if I can source an existing trim that may be the easier and quicker fix.

Well will see what comes up, and so if the search proves fruitless I will probably just follow your suggestion.

Thanks again,

Laurence

Re: BM 6000 225x - Trim

Hi Laurence

If you are desperate to change the look of your beomaster, it can be accomplished relatively easily by sourcing some veneer of your choice. I once tried the “iron on” type but won’t do that again because the high temperature puts quite a twist into the plastic. Fortunately, the way in which these panels are fitted was sufficiently strong to pull it reasonably straight again. However, the principle is proven and you can get any look that you want as long as the glue works well. I have always thought that if I had some spare panels, I would go for an entirely different look altogether, however I wanted the option to restore my favourite units to their original look just to keep them authentic. In some cases, the woodwork was so bad that a veneer job just had to be done and if you do it carefully, it takes a trained eye to tell the difference. Have fun but see if you can find some old panels to experiment on first.

Regards

Geoff

BM 6000 225x - Trim

Hi All,

As I'm in the process of getting my 6000 into mint condition... its currently still at the service centre getting all the caps changed and a general tune up (been 5 weeks now (instead of 2) so a little worried... they say they've been busy and its a bigger exercise than expected as the contacts all needed to be cleaned etc.... but of course thats another storey..) .... anyway... I was thinking that I would like to see if I could change the rosewood timber trim on the unit, if that is possible. Actually, theres nothing wrong cosmetically such as damage, its just me being a little obsessive, as the veneer on my unit has very little character in the grain and I have seen many units ( old catalogues / ebay etc) which have a much more figured grain much closer to that used on my speakers ....

So does anyone have an idea where I could source this? I would prefer not to have to for instance buy a non -working beocord etc as the shipping cost would not make financial sense.. Any thoughts on possible sources would be appreciated.

Thanks

Laurence
