The glue has losened and it's a strong magnet and a metal chassis. Centering the magnet is extremely difficult without an adjustment gig of some sort and damage to the coil is almost guaranteed. The cylindrical center piece inside the coil have probably losened from the back plate as well.

The S45 and S45.2 are great speakers but they don't ship very well anylonger. I like to reinforce the joint using 2-comp epoxy glue to prevent this from happening but that's only possible as long as the woofers are still OK. In this case it's too late.

Martin

Re: S45-2 speakers

Hi Martin, Thanks for replying to me so fast. It's funny you said, gently push on the cone, because that is what I did when I first looked in side I pushed on each cone and they did not move . Is there something I can do to straiten out this problem ?

If so would you please get back to me with a solution to this problem. They were just shipped to me from California to Philadelphia 3000 miles Thanks Again Martin

George

Re: S45-2 speakers

Hi George,

Press gently on the cone to see it it can move back and forth.

My bet is that the woofers have frozen, it happens often in transport. The magnet comes lose and sucks itself to the chassis, thereby sandwiching and blocking the coil.

Martin

S45-2 speakers

I picked up a pair of B&O S 45-2 speakers Overall in pretty good condition except for the 8 " woofers. There is no volume coming from ether woofers. The Mid range and Tweeters on both speakers work fine. But yet no response from the woofer Bass. The speakers look to be in good condition and the rubber surrounds are in good shape, no rot at all. Is there any way to tell if the speakers work and the problem might lie in the crossovers. Any kind of test that I can try. Any help would really be appreciated.

Thanking you in advance

George
