Since the woofer is practically scrap I think I will try to remove the cone/spider/coil assembly and see if it could be done using some kind of spacers inserted from the front to align the core correctly. As this will propably fail I need to place a wanted ad for the woofer or single speaker.

I was considering replacement with these http://www.visaton.com/en/chassis_zubehoer/tiefton/w200s_4.html . Any idea if they would be suitable if all else fails?

VR

PS. It was transport damage. And it seems that glue was quite sparingly used originally.

Re: Beovox S45 loose bass magnet

Sadly a quite common fault on these wonderful speakers, especially when transported.

You can glue it back on but it's practically impossible to do so without damaging the coil since it gets squeezed between the magnet and the cylindrical center piece. Aligning the magnet while the glue sets is also difficult due to the magnetic forces.

I've added glue around the magnet to fix it to the chassis on the ones I've had in for repairs/recap'ing, simply as a precaution.

I would look for a replacement woofer. Get a good used original driver, no modern woofers will match the original specs.

Martin

Beovox S45 loose bass magnet

Hello,

I have a Beovox S45 speaker where the bass driver magnet has broken off.
