The problem is often as you said a faulty contact inside the switch. Disassembling the switches can be complicated, but others have had success by removing the front panel and spraying electrical contact cleaner in the backs of the switches while tilting the panel away so the fluid and residue runs out the front of the switches. Then you should be able to clean up the residue and reassemble it. Others may chime in with some better suggestions.

Austin

Beomaster 3000-2 noisy channel

Hello;

After years buying only new B&O gear, I decided to explore the older product lines. As a starter , I put together a nice vintage set up comprised by a Beogram 4004, Beomaster 3000-2 an a pair of Beovox S-55.

The lodspeakers soud really OK, the Beogram will benefit from a new band (a set from Martin is on its way) and a cartridge (probably follow the Sondsmith path) but it's the Beomaster the one that concerns me.

After listening to the radio for two hours, I started to notice a strange noise on the left channel. Something like a false connection or dirty switch. It's very annoying. I thought initially it was a problem on the loadspeaker, I swap them out and the problem moved to the other one. I tried on the speaker 2 connection on the back but it is the same.

Right now the problem starts as soon as I turn the Beomaster on. The noise remains for a minute or so after turning the BM3000-2 off.

Any suggestion as to what could be the cause? Could it be a false contact on the circuit board? A dirty switch? Other thoughts?

Thanks;
