There is a strobe pattern on the platter - much bigger and heaavier than the 4002 one. To attach a photo, go to the Option tab when replying to a post and simply add a file attachment.

Thanks for the pictures... its gorgeous. If you ever have the need to take the cover off the 4000, I'd love to see the intricate mechanism inside.

Where does the strobe track the speed? Are the markings on a subplatter?

Btw... how do you attach pictures to these posts?

The Beogram 4000 really is my very favourite bit of B&O. It is just so well made and is an engineer's delight. The 4002 is a great deck, but has been stripped of some of the delights of the 4000. The control surface of the 4000 is wonderful - by the way, it is not supposed to be loose - a lot are! - and the weight and precision of all the parts are just gorgeous. Although I love the Beolab 5000 system a lot, if I could only have one piece of B&O it would be the Beogram 4000.

And this one is of the strobe window - I couldn't get a decent focus down the window - but you know what a strobe looks like!!

You need the service manual!! It is on site and is a beauty!

The 4000 uses its own signal generator which varies the frequency to alter the speed. I'll do some pictures of the two windows. One is the pointer which is directly attached to the arm - this points to a linear scale so you can accurately describe areas of interest on an LP. The second window is a lit strobe used for fine tuning the speed of the platter .

Hi:

Can anyone tell me how speed on AC motor in the Beogram 4000 is regulated? Is it dependent on the the frequency of the powerline?

If Europe runs on 50Hz will the deck run faster in North America where the frequency is 60 Hz?

I'm also curious how the "strobe" function works, and what it does. There are two lenses on the control surface. One is a square and the other is long strip with a graduated scale. How are those adjusted and what do they do?

I've never seen a 4000 before, I'm curious how it differs from the 4002+ series. I've read the descriptions on beocentral and beoworld, I'm looking for a more detailed explanation.

Does anybody have upclose pictures of the 4000 assembled and disassembled? I'd really be interested in seeing what this thing looks like up close and inside.
