So the whole platter+the carriage is higher to the left side and slightly lower to the right. This is probably at least causing problems when hoovering the arm and maybe also the explanation to the channel in-balance. Has anyone else experienced this kind of problem before?

Re: Beogram 3000 (tangential) fine tuning of tonearm carriage

Thanks a lot guys!

I''ll probably take some time to check that out, it's not really a big problem, since the inbalance is not varying so I can adjust the signal going trough my cassette recorder with the balance. But eventually it has to be fixed because probably is better that the stylus is at its correct angle vs the record plate.

Re: Beogram 3000 (tangential) fine tuning of tonearm carriage

Hello 1203,

The difference between the two channels could come from the muting switch
due to oxidization.
To adjust geometry and parallelism of the tone-arm, the detection arm and the pick-up
there are four screws hidden under the counter-weight plastic cover.
As Graham says, I would advise you too to upgrade your membership to silver or gold so that you could have access to all the user and service manuals.

Marc

Re: Beogram 3000 (tangential) fine tuning of tonearm carriage

The rails on which the carriage run have perhaps become detached from their holder during transit. I have seen this and it is a simple matter to push them back in.

If not then it is possible to adjust the perpendicular movement of the arm.

I suggest that you upgrade to silver or gold membership and download the service manual which gives comprehensive instructions on adjustment.

Beogram 3000 (tangential) fine tuning of tonearm carriage

hello!

Been using my new tangential deck for a couple of months and I'm very pleased with the sound. However a question in regards to possible vertical fine-adjustement of the tonearm (not antiskating).

the problems or issues:

1) When playing records, the output from the left channel is slightly higher than right channel, tried changing cartridge but didnt make a difference so I assume this is caused by the turntable/tonearm.

2) when hovering the cartridge and sometimes when descending the cartridge you can hear that the stylus doesnt track at one, i.e it "rides" on the top of the grooves before coming down/up completely. When lifting it kinda plays only right channel for a fraction of a second.

When examining the whole tonearm carriage i.e tone arm base and the speed indicator arm it seems they are slightly bent so, that the left side of the carriage is millimeters higher than the right side compared to the body. Now, as there is no errors or problems when moving carriage with the arrows I assume the sensor works ok, but I just thought that if this could be corrected someway easily without having to use much force.Tried quite easily to push the lefthand side but it didnt make a difference. Also in transport the tonearm and the speedindicator were locked with paper beneath them. Any suggestions how to correct this?
