&lt;p&gt;If it stood unused for a long time, the mechanical contacts may have oxidized a bit.&lt;br /&gt;It&amp;#39;s easy to try it several times, 30-40 or more and see if the oxidation wears away.&lt;/p&gt;

When i try to play a record the pick up lowers on the recored but then immediately lifts up?&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Does anybody know how I can fix this.&lt;/p&gt;
