Tape the subplatter down so it cannot move. Put some foam rubber under the arms and tape them down. Tape the wood surround in place so it doesn't slip forward releasing the top plates. Fill it with polystyrene chips and place in a box full of chips after wrapping in bubble wrap. I always would suggest removing the cartridge though I know some disagree. Then put the first box in a second box and it should be safe! Be prepared to pay for good packing. I would rather pay a lot and get a complete product! Frede advocates wooden crates though this may be just too far economically.

Beogram 6000 Shipping considerations

Hi all,

I've just bought a Beogram 6000 CD4 in Canada, for a reasonable price of GBP120. Includes a MMC20EN - described as in good condition.

Original packaging is not available.

I've never pulled one of these apart, so I have no idea as to how to instruct the seller to pack for shipping.

Should the Platter be detached, and packed separately, as with the later Beograms, or just taped down.

Any other special considerations for a damage-free journey would be much appreciated.

Also, does anyone have any experience with felt anti-static mats for this unit?

Regards

M Yachad
