That looks like a metal tachodisc suffering from a severe mechanical damage.
Looks as if a stray screwdriver hit it. I have never seen that before.

I cannot say if this is the sole reason for the speed problem but there is no doubt that
this fault will confuse the speed regulating processor.

I can supply a new tachodisc in stainless steel, it's an exact reproduction made to
the extreme tolerances needed.
Instructions for replacing it can be included.

Thanks for your reply and the welcome. I suspect the speed tacho is the serated metal piece in the photo and as you can see in the photo it is split. How do I get the replacement metal part from B&O guru dillen (Martin)?

The tacho disc is fitted round the "hub" underneath the black subplatter. It is about 3" to 4" in diameter & all you will be able to see is the outermost part of the strobe ring.

I don't have a BG8000 anymore so cannot post a photo but you can see it in the service manual - section 4-1 & part number 0016 on the exploded view which shows the hub assemblly with the ring fitted.

I have just received my Beogram 8000 today!! Also has a speed problem. It makes a slight noise every revolution and the 33 flashes, It slows down when this happens then speeds up again. Will look for the tacho disc....have no idea where to look but will look lol!! Have the original schematics.

Hi nettrain & welcome to Beoworld.

This is more than likely a tacho disc problem. The BG8000 has a strobe/tacho disc under the subplatter which is part of the speed regulation system. The early ones were fitted with a printed celluloid affair which will now be disintegrating & likely to be the case with yours. This was remedied in later versions by installing a slatted stainless steel disc which is now (not surprisingly) discontinued as a spare part. Fortunately our esteemed member & all round vintage B&O guru dillen (Martin) has had some retro manufactured after painstaking research & many hours of trial & error.

First thing to do is remove the platter & check which type of tacho disc is fitted to your deck.

BeoGram 8000 Speed Variation Problem

I recently sourced an old Bang & Olufsen 8000 series system and everything works fine except for the BeoGram 8000, which when I play 33rmp or 45rmp records it starts playing normally and then starts to slow down, then goes back to normal speed, then slows down again. I have tried adjusting the turntable speed and turning it but still the same issue. Can anyone shed any light on what might be happening here as I am from a small town in Australia and there are not techies here?
