Does anyone know if this (please see link below) is a good belt or if there are any better ones out there. I see Martin is located in Denmark, anyone know where in Denmark and how much he is charging for a belt kit including the small belt for the arm including shipping to the US?

http://cgi.ebay.com/B-O-4000-4002-4004-Turntable-Platter-and-ARM-Belts-/280624522869?pt=Vintage_Electronics_R2&hash=item4156866675#ht_6608wt_1562

I still have the DIN cable but without the round DIN plug. I’ll will try my local electronic shop to see if I can find the 6-pin plug for the other end of the cable (the black plug on the picture in my first post), else I might have to use the same plug with the RCA cable.

I guess 110V is the correct setting for the Euro model of the 4004 when its operated in the US?

Martin can supply belts and a capacitor kit, you can of course clean with isopropyl (not tried the boiling trick yet should be ok??) to partially restore but this is only temporary!

Many Thanks. It’s working

White = Left positive, connect to the tip (inner center) of the RCA.

Yellow = not connected

Red = Right positive, connect to the tip (inner center) of the RCA.

Blue = not connected

Metal shield = spitted to both L and R RCA (outer ring)

Black = This was connected to the chassis. New ground.

I just brought this record player back from Denmark (220V) to the US. I've set it to 110V. I haven't changed the fuses, they are still .125mA. 240V

When I play a record, the speed at first seems good, but as I get to the end of the record it rotates considerably slower. Is that because of the fuses or wrong Volt setting? Next step up is 130V.

Correct

erh:

Yellow = ?

Ignore - this is used to control the player from the Beomaster. The precursor to datalink.

erh:

Red = Right positive, connect to the tip (inner center) of the RCA.

See above re: remote control

erh:

Metal shield = ?, Is this the new ground?

yes, this is what you would connect to the outer rim of the RCA connectors.

erh:

Black = This was connected to the chassis. Not needed?

Strictly speaking no, there should be a nut on the back of the Beogram that you will use to directly connect to your conventional hifi with a ground wire, as is normal with other record players. This is not normally needed as B&O use the screen of the DIN plug to serve this purpose.

Is that any clearer?

I got the impression you specifically wanted the cartridge grounds to be seperate (like balanced) but if you are not bothered about this then why not use a good quality DIN > Phono adapter? It will save all the hastle and and any difference in quality would be debatable!

Re: Beogram 4004 - Replacing the DIN cable to a RCA cable

Please excuse my ignorance in this post, but what I gather is this:

White = Left positive, connect to the tip (inner center) of the RCA.

Yellow = ?

You will need to either bypass the mute circuit altogether (assuming the LR- are not tied together further upstram but they shouldn't be!) or alter it so that the relay shorts the individual grounds, possible but might mean making your own board but the relay would be usable, as it is DPDT.

What ever happens it will devalue the deck unless you can put everything back as it was, but I say go for it if you feel confident!

1 Left+ >> DIN 3

2 Data >> DIN 6

I’m using my Beogram 4004 with a non-B&O stereo and would like to replace the DIN cable with a new and better quality RCA cable. I’m planning to buy a quality tonearm cable which would have 4 main wires mounted with RCA connectors and a separate ground-connector.

My question is which color cable goes where?

Please see attached picture. The multi-plug inside the record-player connects (from left to right) White, Yellow, Red, Blue, Metal-shield, Black.

So far I think it could be like this:

White = Left

Yellow = Right

Red = Right

Blue = Left

Metal-shield = Unknown. Maybe there is no need for this wire at all with the new RCA cable?

Black = Ground

Second part of the question is which colors represent + and which represents - and does the + go into the inner connector of the RCA plug?
