There are line pictures and instructions for setting up but they pretty much suppose that you Beogram is back in one piece already!

That is the correct manual, just an earlier print run. I believe mine does say 7000 on the front cover, must be a later one. The manuals are all identical in content.

You Beogram 7000 is identical in every respect to a 6500 save for the digits on the front panel.

To access the 2 screws on the underside of the carriage, you must remove the carriage from the rails, turn the carriage over, unclip the cables (taking note of their route) and unhook the spring from the raise/lower arm.

Release the screws.

The white part will now pull away from the black part.

Re: Beogram 7000 tone arm assembly not moving

Søren Mexico:

My dear sir, use your camara digitalus.

Ha, ha, ha. That is another set of problems: It is a new camera. I know how to activate and de-activate the auto focus and the flash. The rest of the stuff I am still working on -- including how to "downsize" my photos to post on this site! ;)

On a more serious note, I would like to disassemble the tone arm to the stage where it looks like Graham's photo so that I can check for the protrusion which Graham mentions. There appears to be two very small screws on the back underside of the thing that secures the black top portion to the white bottom portion. These screws do not appear to be easily accessible.

The first question: Do I have the correct Service Manual? Mine is taken from this site and lists the Beogram 6500 and Beogram 8500, amongst many others but no Beogram 7000. The Service Manual goes from Section 1-1 to Section 7-2. The languages appear to be Danish, English, German and French. The second question: If I do have the correct Service Manual, where do I find instructions in the Service Manual. There does not appear to be much which is relevant. I just need to be walked through the process one baby step at a time.

Thanks.

Re: Beogram 7000 tone arm assembly not moving

Wings:

However, my re-assembly skills set is totally the opposite.

None of it is rocket science, only screws and bits of plastic. If the protrusion is indeed broken off and that is the only damage, the arm will still be useable once the cartridge is installed and the stylus weight is set.

I am afraid that the only resources available are the service manual and this forum.

Re: Beogram 7000 tone arm assembly not moving

Thanks, Graham. Are you saying I am between a rock and a hard place -- or more crudely put, SOL? I agree with you concerning B&O Service. However, if I can find the part(s), B&O Service has the technicians who know so much more than I on how to repair beograms.

Bad news: the tonearm is still pointing to the sky.

What is the next step?

Thank you!

This normally occurs because a small plastic protrusion on the underside of the carriage has broken off.

Once the cartridge is installed and the stylus weight set to the correct value, the arm should look and behave normally.

Picture shows underside of carriage with white bit removed.

Is there any way that I can "see" whether the plastic protrusion is still in place? I have removed the cover to the tone arm assembly but would really prefer no to remove anything else for fear of not being able to put everything back in the proper place. I certainly do not want to take things totally apart as shown in Olly's photos. I wanted to remove the cover and pull the assembly by the black part off of the white part of the assembly in order to see the underside to determine whether the black protrusion is still in place. The only thing I succeeded in doing was to remove the metal arm bit on the left [when viewing the BG7000 from the front]. The Service Manual does not seem to cover any of this unless I am referring to the incorrect section [section 5-2]?

Is it time for me to surrender and call B&O Service? Help, please.

You could try B&O service and you may be lucky enough to find a technician who knows how these things work. However, the usual reaction from B&O is "Beogram obsolete- parts no longer available".

If you really don't fancy a complete strip down then I suggest that you could buy a cheap Beogram 3000 or 3300 or similar and transplant the carriage complete.

This assumes that you can find someone who can ship it out to you in one piece and working condition!!

Ditto another BG7000

Is it time for me to surrender and call B&O Service? Help, please.

Re: Beogram 7000 tone arm assembly not moving

Thanks, Graham. Thanks, Olly.

It would appear that I will need to download the manual and determine whether I have the skills to do all that is necessary. Otherwises, I will be shipping a BG 7000 in pieces to someone like Graham or Martin for re-assembly!

The more I work on the BG 7000, the more problems that arise!

Re: Beogram 7000 tone arm assembly not moving

Some pics

The angle and setting of the pivot point has to be dead accurate although this should not need attention in your case!!!!

To be honest it is a bit of a fidly job but if you are very careful and take your time with a steady hand it is definatly worth doing!
