The clear plastic "thingy" is fixed by a tiny screw from below into the balance weight which slides within the pick up arm.

I have already given away my spare so I don't have one at the moment. I suggest you PM to medogsfat on this forum who may be able to help you.

Thanks Graham! Well...I do now see the tiny black demarcations (old eyes). I do not see the clear plastic thing. Is this a piece that could have fallen off, or broken off? This turntable is new to me, so I don't know it's true history. I got it on E-bay, and the seller isn't responding to any further questions.

If indeed the clear plastic thing is missing, do you know if I can get one still, and is it easy to replace?

It's at the R/H rear of the tone arm. A clear plastic thing that slides along the tone arm. A bit crude but you don't need to dismantle anything!

Thanks again Chris. I can not find the sliding scale for setting the tracking force. This is the "newest" version (80's) of the Beogram. Do I need to disassemble anything to get to the scale? I went as far as removing the black striated cover behind the dust cover. I see that covering the tonearm and sensor arm is another black cover. Do I need to go in there as well.

I'm stumped, any thoughts?

The datalink pin is on its way - it's in a little plastic self sealing bag in the envelope so it should arrive OK.

Thanks Chris, I've ordered one of the Soundsmith cartridges, forgot right now which one. So...I'll go upstairs and look for the sliding scale.

It will depend on the cartridge you get Guy.

They all differ re: tracking force but here's a quick guide.

MMC5 = 1.5 g

MMC4 & MMC3 = 1.2g

MMC2 & MMC1 = 1.0g.

There is a sliding scale on the side of the tonearm which you simply set at the recommended force. If you don't already have a cartridge then don't be tempted by a used one or even "New Old Stock" as they are not reliable and tend to be way overpriced. Go for a brand new Soundsmith SMMC4 as it is superior to the B&O original and comes with a warranty. It isn't quite as refined cosmetically but worth every penny at $140 USD.

Ok, so I've looked and looked, but I can not find how to set the tracking force on the Beogram 3000. If I'm going to get a new stylus, I'm going to want to know how to set it. I'm sure that someone here will have an idea!

Also, thank you to Chris for letting me know about the datalink for it. I assumed that you needed two pins for the datalink.
