I'm using an SP14. It was originally very dirty, it came up ok with cleaning, but if its worn that wouldn't fix anything... Retipping might be the go.

I agree with the 2000. The unhinged lid is dumb! None the less, it is a stunning looking (and hopefully soon operating) unit.

Re: Beogram 1203 subdued Treble

I would agree with both of your diagnoses. The motor probably needs stripping down and cleaning but with probably free a little with use.

The stylus is probably worn - you don't say which one you are using - an SP12 would be the best you can get. Axel can retip yours if you wanted and does an excellent job. Look at www.schallplattennadeln.de

The button probably just needs a bit of cleaning and lubricating to be working better. Lovely looking deck - I actually prefer the Beogram 2000 on which it is based simply because the lid is hinged. Otherwise they are identical.

Beogram 1203 subdued Treble

Hi All,

New member here :)

I've recently got my beogram 1203 turntable setup plugged into my luxman l200 amp.

It was running slightly slow, and I've replaced the belt which fixed the problem. Other than the button not functioning particularly well (takes multiple presses), I have noticed that the treble sounds rather subdued. Is this a sign of needing a replacement stylus or something else?

The motor also seems a little noisey - I suppose this is due to the dried up lubrication?

Any help will be greatly appreciated! :)

Cheers,
