With the age of B&O designet by Jacob Jensen these days you will find or I did on purpose on a budget that it will pay the most.

My Beogram 8002 was the first to Dillen and after that it became a habit while the arrival of both Beosystem 6000 in white and 8000 came in more or less dead condition. Each unit had some faults some worse than others.

Sadly not many know how to fix these units and B&O stores usually saying: we don't have any spareparts aviable.

Then we have some that think they know about electronics which gets to the unit never being done right and even still has faults + you are paying the price in cash for that. That could be as a new owner or a Tv/audio repairguy.

Anyway Dillen insisted that he was interested in taking a look at my 8002 and he is the guy that knows how to keep these units running for the long run. He can't get enough praise.

If you want a Jacob Jensen B&O these days you will need qualified service and take the time to get it done.

Actually, I believe the displays are original, no work has been done on them since I've had it .... more likely tho, my poor photography skills and wrong camera settings have resulted in them being over exposed and thus appearing too bright ?

When and if I need to rebuild them, I'll definitely refer to the thread where you rebuilt your 8000 displays with great success tho....

Mine here pictured about 2 years ago I think. It came from alot of a BM6000 and BC8000. Been in a garage and never got around to use it.

It was troublesome from day 1. The arm moved a bit but got stuck. The alu lid were loose and I needed a pickup.

After an atempt at skating over a record I finally took it to Dillen. For 3 times less than I had allready got a TV repair center to do it worked like new and still to this day sounds wonderfull without any faults since late 2007.

Re: A Wonderful (New) Beogram 8002

soundchoice70:

what I have set my eye on is a lovely, big pair of MS150's for the corners of my living room

I waited years before I finally got some (cosmetically mint) MS150's and they were a real disappointment in the end. The speakers themselves were easily the best passives I have ever heard (after some intensive refurbishing of the drivers & crossovers) but the wife approval factor was in the negative balance

I really really wanted to keep them but had to concede that she was right - our modern rooms just wouldn't accomodate them.

I will endeavor to get you some decent pics over the week of it for your and others enjoyment!

Thanks Geoff,

Yes this process is definitely proving a test of my patience, but as you say it is proving worth it....

Hmmm, BM8000 would love too, I'm so often tempted.... but I think I'll stick with the 6000 for a bit.. a little because its my first bit of vintage B&O..... and call me crazy, but what I have set my eye on is a lovely, big pair of MS150's for the corners of my living room ... I have tall ceilings and the floor space so why not! Plus I expect some improvement in sound from my 80's....

Again though I'll need to wait a while to find the right ones and you know pace myself!

Just wanted to let you all know, I'm now officially an extremely happy owner of a BG8002...

In late January of this year I purchased a unit from Denmark, altho it was supposed to be in ' very good condition' I made the decision before I shipped it across the globe, to send it to Martin for a check up.... fortunately I did this as inaddition to it needing all the usual work (caps, various adjustments that Martin took me thru in great detail... thank you!) it was poorly packed... so fortunately this little stopover and wait proved well, well worth the effort...

The unit finally reached me last week and after a little hick up with the datalink cable not working properly is playing wonderfully .... and boy am I happy, its virtually mint aesthetically (even Martin said it was one of the better ones he's seen recently) and it has a mmc2 in what to me seems mint (as much as it could be) condition.... clear, accurate and detailed is all I can say.....

I have now come to realise the difference and the passion many of you have for high quality analogue over digital .. (altho I grew up in the 70s), the depth, dynamics of this deck is brilliant and the warmth of analogue really is magic..... am looking forward to building up a nice collection of LP's to enjoy....

Take care all...

Laurence
