I shall be in the UK later this week for a few days, and have ordered a capacitor kit to bring back to Greece and take to a repair shop in Volos - not a B&O service outfit, but someone who seems to be very competent to fix a whole range of a/v equipment. As I also have the full service manual I'm hoping that he won't have any problems.

Once again, many thanks for your help, and

Best wishes.

The symptoms, you describe, are those of instability in the power supply and/or processor reset circuitry.
All very common to Beogram's of this range but for some reason seemingly very hard for the repairshops to diagnose.

I'm delighted that I won't have to go out and buy another stylus as those offered by Soundsmith and styli.co.nz are pretty pricey.

This is in fact my second venture into Beoworld - years ago I asked about replacing (or repairing) several of the drivers in my Beovox M150s, and I received a very helpful response at that time. And in fact I need to do some more work on them now ...

The problem with the 8002 is that, first, the play/stop control buttons have not been working well for some time, but it was always possible, on the third or fourth push, to start the turntable. However, secondly, and this rendered the player unusable, when the turntable started, the tone arm came out and dropped onto the record, as normal, but immediately would then lift off again, and either retreat into its housing, or just stay suspended, while the turntable stopped.

I was very interested in your comment that parts can be found, as I have had to put my Beomaster 8000 in storage since that ceased to function properly several years ago; I haven't taken it to B&O service in Athens because I felt that they wouldn't be able to fix it, but I would dearly love to have it working again!

The Beogram 8002 is by far the better one of those two and of course Beogram 8002 parts
can be found, its just B&O who can't supply them.
What are the symptoms ?

An yes, the MMC cartridge will work fine in both decks.

I have therefore replaced it with a Beogram 9000, but which came without the stylus. Can anyone tell me whether the stylus from the 8002 will fit the 9000, or if I will have to track down another stylus for the 9000? Thanks!
