It doesn't break the signal path when operating, it just shortcircuits the signal to ground - so removing it will just make the Beogram operate like turntables from other brands!

Re: Beogram 4000 - 1 channel doesn't work

The Beogram was originally mine, I have tried with 3 different styli.
thanks a lot for your input. I have meassured the DIN plug and it's ok.

Do you think it could be the magnetic preamplifier?

Currently I am neglecting the system itself as we tried another stylus and we had the same problem.

P.S. Just spoke to somebody who suggested to look into the muting relay - what do you think?

Thanks,

It is also common to have loose contacts in a DIN plug. What you need is a working beogram to compare it with. A working cartridge would be a start but you cannot be sure which part of the pathway it was if it still did not work. A complete Beogram would allow you to replace each part separately. Maybe someone on forum lives close to you?

Re: Beogram 4000 - 1 channel doesn't work

Welcome, Robert - and no problem at all, your post is right where it belongs

A Beogram 4000 doesn't really have any electronics between the stylus/cartridge and the output connector (well, there is a relay, but it is unlikely to fail this way).

The most likely problem is the output DIN connector. I would start by looking inside it, one of the wires might have simply come loose from the soldering and then it will be an easy fix.

One channel of the cartridge may be broken as well - has it actually been tested/measured already?

Beogram 4000 - 1 channel doesn't work

Hi,

first of all I would like to say that I just signed up to Beoworld and hope that anybody will forgive me as I am just starting to go through the forums, groups etc. in case I should have done something differently.

After a long search I finally found a Beogram 4000. The Stylus needs to be replaced, I knew that, and 1 channel doesn't work. I have been in touch with the people I know around here in Germany who are capable of reparing this. I have learned as much that the channel failure must come from a mecahnical part (e.g. amplifier etc.) rather than the stylus. As we all know B&O does not supply any spare parts and I was hoping that somebody in this forum may be pointing me in the right direction of what best to do.

Thanks a lot, Robert
