What do you use for staining the raw wood? I'd like to bring some colour back into the top of a pair of S60's.

I have some slight damage to the front rosewood corners on a BG8002. Its just the rosewood veneer that has cracked, damaged and has peeled off. How would I attempt to fix this?

Some time ago I refurbished a BM8000 - the former owner thougt the black trim looked really cool so he had peeled of the veneer

I got hold of some mahogany veneer and it turned out to be really close to the original rosewood after giving it a little oil. Next to a BG8000 with the original rosewood it actually doesn't differ more than the natural variations in the wood except for being a little more even in color.
If you can't dig any up I can send you some - I have some left.

Hi Derek!With "this product" you mean the plastic veneer? I've found http://www.tokan.de/d-c-fix-shop/ or http://www.berlinwallpaper.com/dcfix/Woodgrain.htm but they have only few designs. You can goooogle yourself with "d-c-fix". And they must have it in do-it-yourself-stores to have an impression. Chris

In North America, the suppliers want a bit more specificity. The suppliers go by the scientific name of the type of rosewood species.

I generically asked for "rosewood" and they wanted more info.

You asked what kind of rosewood veneer B&O used for the products.

B&O specified to the suppliers: Brazilian High Quality Veneer (Rio Veneer).

This is of course veneer made of real wood!

In Denmark this information is what veneer suppliers need. I have bought veneer a couple of times with that specification and got exactly the same color and 'grain' as used on B&O products.

Hi Derek!Sorry, I don'f know the different species of rosewood or wood at all. I was looking for a veneer with fine grain, which I can stain with the color and tone I like. And yes, it is raw wood! You should handle it like any other new furniture!, But by the way, What about trying some self adhesive plasic veneer (in German DC-Fix Folie). I had great sucsess with a BM 1900 and a BV 3600, which I turned to white with a foil. Chris

What species of rosewood was used by B&O? I went to a veneer shop and they had rolls for rosewood and they asked my what type.

Secondly, rosewood that they stocked were unfinished. It needs to be sanded down, stained and finished.

Was this the case with the veneer that you found? Any tips for how to do this?

Hi Beoaus!If the veneer is still complete you can try as follows: remove the whole veneer with a knife and a hairdryer, clean the plastic body surface with sandpaper or something and re-glue it with contact-glue. If the wood is already into pieces and some edges are lost, you should think about some new veneer. You can go to a cabinet maker for sone new sheet of veneer. You stick a bigger piece of veneer on it and crop the borders with a carpetknife. At least you have to treat the new wooden surface. I have made 2 Beograms, one this way and one with double-sided tape. But it must be very thin tape and no foam. (the glue is the better way)Good luck!Chris
