These lock the plinth in place which is why it appears to stick on some machines. By not bending these you needlessly wear them out to the point that many plinths just slide forward easily on their own accord.

Secondly, on re-assembly you might find some motor panels are a little stuborn and will not easily allow the plinth to lock into postition. This is rectified simply by lifting the panel up by a tiny (less than 1/2mm maybe but experiment!) amount and then sliding the plinth in should be effortless. Seems the keyhole can catch on the upper, larger diameter part of the pegs sometimes - maybe because it has become slightly bent out of shape?.. whos knows. Not worth messing with and once you know how to tease it in it isn't a problem!

Re: How to open a Beogram 4002 / 4004 / 6000

A reasonable request! On the removing the wood surround, you don need to remove the control panel but after that it is just a case of removing the screws that hold the panel in the sliding position. There are plastic parts below the screws which are rather fragile but take your time and they can be re-used.

Re: How to open a Beogram 4002 / 4004 / 6000

Can't we make this a sticky?

Re: How to open a Beogram 4002 / 4004 / 6000

burantek:

No I haven't, I was hoping there was some easier way than taking off the operation panel. Thinking that it might be as simple as removing the other panels which doesn't involve a screw driver. I am not so much lazy as fearful I might break something not knowing how to properly remove it.

I am in the process of restoring a 4002 and have been lucky to have acquired a couple that I can swap the better cosmetic parts to put together one better table. One question I have that seems a logical extension of this thread, which is how do you completely remove the wooden base that I would like to swap with a better one that I have? I know all the top screws on the sides have to be taken off but there is one metal tab in the front on the right that keeps the wooden base from coming completely off the table.
