Firstly, there is no "specification".

The rule is what works, works.

Suffice to say that there are many different quality belts, all vendors selling for what the market will bear. Some are garbage, some are good quality, and others are excellent quality.

I have been buying from this ebay vendor for many years, for my own and for customer repairs, and I have not had a failure or deterioration as yet.

Is there a specification for B&O turntable belts? I have a 1203 Beogram that's running fine at present, but I know that every so often the belt gets fatigued and has to be replaced. I think the last time I did it was through trial and error looking for something compatible from another maker.

Incidentally, in the lifetime of this turntable I've has some interesting experiences with dealers re maintenance. When B&O had franchises with other shops (inc John Lewis and Laskeys (?)) if you went in for a new drive belt they always wanted to come out and fit it at a ridiculous cost. Current dealers may be the same. I remember having a bit of an argument with a manager of JL in Liverpool (then George Henry Lee) who did not want to sell me the belt without me paying for a call-out!
