It is all very well but you probably paid quite a bit and Axel will charge a fair bit to fix them - he has to take them apart.

Re: MMC4 Cartridge and Beogram 8002...

I agree with Chris in sending them in for repairs. Unless you paid a huge amount for them in the first place, in which case I would consider going for a refund.

It sounds as though the suspension has hardened over time which is quite common even in so called "new old stock" ones. I would send them to Axel and have the suspension renewed (I assume he can do this?) - the cantilever & stylus should be fine if they were sealed items.

Or you could ask the seller to refund you.

The MMC2 is the standard fitting. If the MMC4 works, there is no reason the MMC2 should not - the cartridge body is identical = only the cantilever and diamond differ. You can get the MMC2s repaired - I have just had one of mine done which had a snapped cantilever. Have a look at http://www.schallplattennadeln.de/ - Axel is very friendly and immensely quick.

Re: MMC4 Cartridge and Beogram 8002...

Hi Donald

Yes it's possible the 8002 was "born" with the mmc2.If those you tried are used they are not ok.
