There are several threads about this issue with decks of the same family, like Beogram 2400 / 2402 etc.
Do a search here and you will find that it's usually a question of one drop of sewing machine oil in a dry spot.

What could have change the settings during storage? The tracking force is generateted by weights. Your deck needs to be disassembled, cleaned from old hardened grease, esp. the lift. Then, after some new grease and putting all together again, you may re-adjust some points. Do you dare this to do?

Beogram 1600

I have a Beogram 1600 that I have stored for a while and want to get back in service. The cartridge (original) seems fine. I have it connected to a Beomaster 1600 and its sounds great. But it seems what I hope is an adjustment.

When I push the play button, the arm moves to the record at an elevation that is just below the record surface. Thus it bumps against the side of the turntable and record instead of seating in the first song track. I can set it on the first track by hand and it plays the record fine. But when it gets to the end it ligthly drags across the record and then seats as it should.

Is there a way that I can adjust the arm so it will have a little more height as the arm moves to the record? There is an adjustment at the other end of the arm, but it doesn't seem to have range enough to get the height above the record. Maybe something is broken or ?

Or do my symptoms sound like stems Thanks for any help you may be able to offer me.
