I've often thought on more than a few occasions that the hightwater mark for stereo equipment was the 1970's in general. It's nice to read about things that were made properly the first time & have an enduring quality. They say we live in an age of disposable everything, & that we need to cultivate an "heirloom society" rather than throwing taking everything to the dump.

Frede your site is educational & fun. The Swiss company Schopper AG re-manufactor all critical parts for the Thorens TD 124 and Art Dudley at Stereophile has been testing the old classic TD 124 fully restored with Schopper parts. This is why he has chosen the Thorens TD 124 as The product of the year 2008.

So proud owners of the Beogram 3000 / Thorens TD124 MKII - you own a real classic and very rare classic.
