The MMC5 will be 20 years old and the suspension will be getting less compliant. This is the least well specified of the range and it will be the least successful at tracking high frequencies. &lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;The platter just lifts off - a piece of stiff card inserted between it and the surround should enable you to lift it up. I&amp;#39;ve set the tracking weight to 1.5 (mmc5 cartridge and stylus). However i&amp;#39;m noticing some distortion when the stylus reaches the center of the record that&amp;#39;s playing; higher frequencies sound washed out and static-y.
