The metal plate will just glue back on - they all fall off because they were originally stuck on with two sided tape which has rotted. I use two pack epoxy. You need to clean all the black goo off the plate and the hinge though first!

If the stylus has fallen off, you need a new cartridge and the best place to go is Soundsmith. Not cheap though so make sure the deck is worth it first!

Hello guys,

I am new here but was wondering if you guys could give me some advice on a Beogram 6002. I recently "found" one in my parent's garage, where it's been sitting for 10 years or so. Now it seems that it is slightly broken here and there and I was wondering if it was in any way fixable.

First off, the metal cover on the right seems to be unglued. I figure this just needs some strong glue and should be ok, no?

More serious, the stylus was all twisted and when I touched it it basically fell off. Is there anything I could do with this? Is there any point getting in touch with B&O?

I have a Beogram TX parts machine & I'm pretty sure the lid mechanism is identical.

Drop me a PM if you're interested in any parts, the lid mechanism is fine BTW.

Here is a schematic drawing of what I have done to fix the hinges. My camera had trouble to shoot the details at a close distance - so I made a drawing of it to explain.

I managed to glue the hinges back to position again. I also reinforced the hinges on the back part by filling the rectangular holes under the hinges with epoxy glue so the stress on the corners of those holes (it's in those corners the hinges cracked) were reduced by spreading it over a larger surface. It looks and works fine. I brought the spring up to original tension without problems. I agree with Derek that owners of "uncracked" units should release the tension at least to the point where the dust cover just can stand up i fully open position. The adjustment screw is located under the plastic cover over the tangential arm track, approx 8cm left of the spring mechanism that lift the dust cover. 2mm allen key needed. To loosen tension - turn key counter clockwise.

Btw if someone have the back part I'm still interested as a future spare.

Great tip! How do I adjust the tension? i really want to do this on my BG8002, the dustcover is badly warped now and it's only a question of time before the mechanism breaks - it did on my bg8000 a couple of weeks ago :-(

That's a tricky one. I'm not sure that even if you did find a replacement, how much longer it would last as the plastic becomes brittle with time. That whole dust cover design including the adhesive metal cover was simply poorly designed in my opinion. Also the tension on the spring should never have been set so high.

The best thing to do at this point (until you find a replacement, or until Dillen comes up with a solution (he always does)) is to reduce the tension on the spring to keep the dust cover from warping. This will mean that dust cover won't stay up by itself but it will keep the cracks from propagating.

At this point all 8000/6000 series owners should be reducing the tension on the dust cover spring in general so as extend the life of that back piece.

Hi Derek and Martin

It is the hinges where the rod threads through that are broken on the plastic back part not on the lid or dustcover. They are broken just above the spring mechanism that holds the dustcover in upright position.

I've asked b&o of sweden for replacement but they said that this part was obsolete.

If it just the tab you can use a good quality double sided tape to keep it from "bowing."

I need the plastic back part (part no 3030067) that holds the lid and dustcover in place for my bg6002 because the hinges for the dust cover are broken. Is there anyone here who may have this part?
