The old one is past it's best anyway. In my experience it is almost always the belt that is the problem.

A new belt either fixes it or removes a variable.

Re: My Beogram 5005 has a speed capacity problem!

Dillen,

I'm not sure what do you mean by "if the belt slips"...

How much would cost a new belt? There are actually two belts in your Beogram but we are referring to the large one that drives the platter. New belts are in stock.

It could also be the speed setting trimmers. These are electronic parts inside the Beogram. Some trimmer types fall apart physically, others oxidate heavily. They are fairly cheap components but basic electronic skills and tools are required to replace them.

However, I would check the belt first. Lift off the platter (it can bind drastically to the subplatter on which the belt grips). With the Beogram disconnected from mains rotate the subplatter back and forth by hand, watch if the motor rotates or the belt slips. If the belt slips it will definitely need replacing.

Martin

Re: My Beogram 5005 has a speed capacity problem!

Thanks Graham!
Do you think that it will fix the problem?

Dillen, could you give me a helping hand here?

Thanks in advance!

Re: My Beogram 5005 has a speed capacity problem!

I suggest that the rubber belt on the record deck has stretched with age and needs replacing. Yesterday arrives my pre-amp and just now I had the opportunity to listen the first LP's.

Suddenly, after the first musics, and more next to the center of the disc, I figure that the music sounds like if the speed rotation were lower than 33 rpm...

What do you think that might causing this?

Thanks for your help!
