In the main menu (N.MUSIC/N.RADIO/PHOTO/WEB) press the red button on the Beo4 followed by "9". In the customer service menu press the usual "0" "0" "GO", you will now see some additional menu options. Under one of these you tick off the option to show the "service menu" (=the ordinary windows desktop). Go back using EXIT till you are at the main menu - now you will have a 5th option if you scroll down below WEB, called SERVICE MENU. Select this and you will be taken directly to the ordinary windows desktop. You will need a mouse/keyboard to get anything done here, of course.

I find that my Beomedia 1 has very tight restrictions/permissions on what updates can be performed in the IE window of the service browser. For instance, I would like to update bothAdobe Flash & Shockwave in order to view the latest B&O BeoSound 5 website. I would also like to add/download the codecs mentioned elsewhere in the forum so that I could view some small video files.

Any suggestions on how to gain root access to perform operations like these?
