Basically I have discovered that Microsoft have a work around to install Internet Explorer IE7 onto windows XPe which is on the Beomedia. It is the official Microsoft site and the links telling you how to do it are in that posting.

Unfortunately although I know a fair amount about PCs, the instructions are not in lay man's terms and I cannot really understand what I need to do. Can anyone who knows a little about windows & maybe programming help?

Please take a look at the link and answer there if you can help, thank you!

I have read extensively on here about the issues with installing it with Vista and getting the network running etc. I have also read up on its capabilities as far as music and photos go. I see that it can play videos as well but that depends on installing codecs etc.

I currently have an ATV-1 which does everything I want, music, photos, video & simple web surfing (you tube, google, facebook). I know I need to install Beoplayer. I already use that on my PC and have the current version. What will I need to do when I get the BM1?

I have a non HD Beovision 5 and Beosound 9000 (N.Music capable) masterlinked in the main room and 4 Beolab Pentas (2 in the main room & 2 in a wireless link room), a wired Beolab3500 in another room and 2 wireless Beolab 2000's in a futher 2 rooms.

So my questions are :-

1. Where do I install Beoplayer? On the BM1? On my PC? Both places?

2. If I play audio/video on the BM1 will I still have the delay in the sound in the other link rooms? I currently get a delay in link rooms when using my ATV-1 for music/video due to the known issues with audio sync and flat screen TVs..

3. Can I install VLC player on the BM1? (the reason being VLC has almost every codec needed for the files I use) A posting on here suggests you can by logging onto the "PC part" of the BM1 (ie not the B&O layer if that makes sense?) If so, do you make VLC the default player for those file types? the posting dealing with VLC doesn't actuall say what to do.

4. Would I benefit from running the B&O Configuration Guide for the optioning of everything or will it be straight forward/common sense? (I cannot get the giude to run on my PC and have started a thread on that). If so i can borrow a laptop to put it on.

5. Will I be able to acces external drives connected to my PC which will be wired (not wireless) to the BM1, or am I better of transferring all the files onto the BM1.

6. Will I be able to mute the TV picture once I start playing music files on my BV5 (at the moment I cannot mute the picture when playing my ATV-1).

7. Would I be able to install Skype & a webcam and use that in the "PC part" of the BM1 (or better still in the B&O layer.

Please excuse all the questions and I'm sure I'll have more once it arrives early next week.

Thanks for any help in advance

I have a Beomedia connected to a Beovision 6-22 using a Scart connection.

The Beovision 6 obviously has no PC option.

I have connected an old style IR-receiver to the Beomedia (one from an old MCL-AV kit). Connected the 5V / ground / data to a 3.5mm plug.

If I use a Beo4 the IR-receiver blinks shortly, so I think it receives and transmits signals.

It seems the beomedia does not do anything with the signal.

I tried to setup the beomedia to be able to listen to the V.AUX or V.TAPE2 commands in the setup menu. (Red - 9 - 0 - 0 - Go using a keyboard). However everytime I connect back, the options for VM and source are greyed out and set to default PC. Even when using the PC command on a Beo4, the Beomedia seems not to respond.

(By the way, when the beomedia is connected to a BV7 with a ML cable, it works using a Beo4, but that's not my television... unfortunately)

as I'm getting a beosound 9000 MK III soon, I would like to know if it is possible to use a Windows 2003 server with beoport instead of a normal pc. The server is already running 24h, so there would be no need to keep a second machine running.

As far as I understand Beoport streams music over masterlink to a compatible audio system.

How does everything else work ? Does it work like streaming videos/music from a nas ? I currently have this windows 2003 server and a playstation 3 to stream movies from the server to my tv. Beoport should do the same but to the beosound 9000.

Is my understanding of beoport right and will it work as I want it to work ?

Regards

I had a very strange expreience yesterday.

I was an idea to add a Belkin Bluetooth receiver (http://www.belkin.com/IWCatProductPage.process?Product_Id=508754) to my Beocenter 2500+Beolab4500 system via the AUX connector, but it had the most strange behaviour I've ever seen. The sound turns on, but it sounds like DIGITALLY JAMMED, just like if You try to listen to a very badly scratched CD, or an extraim wrong digital connection, some data is missing, some frequency are missing, and it's sounds totally fake! Unfortunately, I was not able to record it, but imagine the sound like this (noisy!) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dzvvk9BBC30 with some bad quality music in the background.

Of course, my first thought was, that the digital link or the receiver is wrong, so I tried to use the receiver and the dongle in just inches away, but there was no difference. After this, I started to test the items, and:

- The receiver works absolutely fine with my notebook, so there is no problem neither with the receiver, nor the transmission,

- I replaced the music source with a different bluetooth source (mobile phone -> PC), but there was no change, the behaviour remained the same,

- I changed the source and the destination computer - the system worked just perfect.

There was only one strange thing: The 5 pin connection to the Beocenter seemed a little bit grounding problem (there was the usual deep growling sound), but as I was used a brand new 5 pic connector, it can't be the problem, so I thought, maybe the connector is wrong inside the Beocenter 2500. So to check it, I was tried the bluetooth system in my other Beosystem 2300, and...

... IT WAS ACTED THE SAME WAY!

So, the only part I was not replaced was the 3.5 jack-5 pin connector, BUT the problem seems totally different, as the sound is not bad - with for example a huge noise in the bacground - but JAMMED, just like a real bad digital sound!! How can it be, as an audio connection can not act this way?

I was quite proud of having linked my computer to my BV7-32 Mk1 to my computer and use is as a great computer screen. It was quite some work, but with enough trying, I made it.

The problem is that it does not work anymore. I thought I just had to start the TV first and then the computer ( with the right resulution), but suddently this is not the right thing anymore. I have the same problem in both linux and windows, I tried every possible start sequence. I set the computer on PC or PC-AV when it is present, the connection are on AV4...

Does anybody who really master this have an idea?

I have a BM1 for several years and use it every day with much pleasure.

I started noticing when surfing the web that more and more pages could not be viewed anymore due to using IE 6. so i thought: let's upgrade!

now i have installed IE 8 on the BM 1 and gues what: no web browsing is possible anymore :-(

so my message is: do not do this!!

my question: any thoughts or ideas how to browse the web again with BM 1?

The unaltered digital signal is then fed to an external DAC for uncompromised quality.

Could someone explain how to do the same result with a PC playing iTunes via Airport Express: how does one by-pass the PC audio handling and get unaltered digital signal from the Airport Express?

I have a beosystem 2 connected to my PC wirlessly through the BS2 aux and a Squeezebox. It works fantastically but is annoying in that it takes up the only aux available on the PS2 and requires two remotes to operate. I would like to use N.Radio and N.Music through a beoport but have not worked out how to connect the beoport wirlessly to the PC. I have no way of getting a long masterlink cable from the beoport to the PS2 or long ethernet and audio cable from the PC to the beoport.

So I final got around to setting up the BeoMedia 1 that I acquired a while back. My current setup is both a BeoSystem 1, BV4-50 and BeoSound 9000 in the same room with all speakers connected to the BS1 (Beolab 1 & Beolab 6000). To my knowledge the BS1 is set to Option 2 and the BeoSound 9000 is set to Option 0.

1) Does it really matter which of the rear connection (DVD, V.TAPE, etc) I connect the S-Video, Video, L & R Audio, COAX to?

2) Notice in the BM1 Setup Guide it say "IR receiver (only required in some setups)" is that referring to where in the BM Installation Guide 'BeoLink Media Installation Guide' it states "used if the TV in question has an application software installed which do not support a full integrated BeoLink Media setup and then I am assuming in that case I would be required to also setup a Beoport/BeoLink PC2 or be required to connect a seperate link eye directly to the BM1?

Hiller

Just recently acquired a used BeoMedia 1 at a resonable price to add to my setup ( BV4-50, BS1, BL1, BL4000, BL6000). I have tried looking through the post after jk1002 pointed out that this forum existed, thanks by the way jk1002 !

After looking at the installation guide for software version 3.0, I noticed that it shows the BeoMedia being connected directly to the BeoVision. Shouldn't I be connecting the S-Video and Audio outs into the BS1 under say V.Aux inputs along with the Masterlink going between my BS1 and BM1? Also, is it necessary to have the VGA cable connected at all times? Or is that only necessary when you want to access the service side of the BeoMedia 1, accessing the Windows interface itself to do configuration stuff?

Also curious does anyone know in regards to the USB and Firewire connection on the unit, I assume that an extrenal HD can be connected via them in order to hold all the data files (music, photo, video)? Or can the BeoMedia be configured to access a Network Storage Drive? The default 250GB is rather small and seeing that the largest ATA Ultra-133 HD available seems to be 500GB there's really not much room for upgrading in order to expand the internal storage.

Regards,
