It will have newer software but you can upgrade a PC2 to the same level.

I don't use a TV tuner with my Mac and only use the N.Music feature which works really quite well allowing control of iTunes using your Beo4. However you do get limited display of tracks - it appears on the small LED display on the Avant which is inadequate. I tend to set up playlists on the Mac and then control them using the Beo4. Look up BM-Link on the web and you will find the software you use with a Mac. I think it mentions TV cards but whether the recommended ones are still available is debatable!!

BeoPort/BeoLink PC2

Hello all!

I have a Mac (MacBook Pro) and I am interested to store some of my music on it (or USB drive) and play it through the house on my B&O equipment, and vice versa. I looked in the forum and I know that there is a solution called BeoPort. However a have 2 questions and your help would be wonderful.

First, is there a difference (software, functions, box...) between BeoPort and BeoLink PC2 or just a name change?

Second, I saw that I could link my PC monitor with my Avant/DVD. From what I understand, I would need a TV tuner with a coax to the TV/DVD in order to carry the images over. Is this a good, stable, user friendly solution? Put it differently, what would be the drawbacks compared to a link TV? Do you recommend any TV tuner brand/model?

I've attached a drawing to represent the connections, if you are interested...

Thank you! Cheers.
