Even though I am a huge Apple fan i am not too exited about the iphone. I haven't seen a single product from Apple that was built durable enough to retain it's appeal during daily use. I am pretty sure that after 4 weeks it will be scratched regardless how carefull one is. Unless they deliver it with some sort of smart protective case but I haven't seen that yet.

The iPods come with protective cases (well mine did, but somebody nicked the case, and left the iPod). Anywho, the two iPods I've had (4gb Mini and current 80gb) have stood up to heavy use very well. I listen to my iPod at least 5 hours a day...

Re the question of the size of the iPhone compaired to other modern mobile phones; I would personally prefer a larger phone, being a user of mature years. I refuse to buy one of these "pixie" phones because they are too hard to operate due to the miniscule size of the keypads. I currently use a 10+ year old Motorola cd930e, but will happily upgrade to an iPhone if it is big enough! (all my computer equipement is Apple anyway).

And apparently a 3g version in Jan which is what I'll be waiting for. The only other problem I can see in Europe is what provider Apple will choose.......

I believe it is expected in Europe at the end of the third quarter. It's a shame that it is still unknown which network it will be on. The device is far to big for my liking and has too many functions, but saying that I am such a sucker for Apple products I will still probably get one.

Saw that somewhere else a while ago. It does look very very cool indeed, although from a hardware point of view, I think I prefer what the iPhone has to offer...

15-Year-Old Designs Butterfly Concept Cellphone

We have seen "iPhone killers" of all shapes and sizes, but this one is a bit different because it is extremely farfetched and extremely cool on top of that. Oh, and it was designed by a 15-year-old Korean student studying in Canada.

The "Butterfly" is a slider, but it slides out horizontally, rather than vertically like most other slider phones. In fact it looks similar to the Samsung K5 we've reviewed before. The whole package is an AMOLED touchscreen and it includes all of the regulars like a camera, SD expandability and such. There is a little to no chance in hell of this ever becoming a real phone, but it is definitely interesting to see how the minds of the future cellphone designers are working. Most people prefer the iPod to the BeoSound 2, so I am sure that iPhone will beat Serene, too. The big question is: Will the iPod still outrun the BeoSound 6? Will the iPhone be a better phone than the new Serene 2?
