As the iPod internal DAC is poor, I am going to use a docking station that by-passes the iPod internal DAC and&nbsp;that sends a digital signal to an external DAC.</p> <p>Two models seem to do that quite well in terms of sound quality: the Wadia 170 iTransport (or its successor 171 iTransport)&nbsp;and the Onkyo ND-S1.</p> <p>Does anyone have experience with these ones? Which one would you recommend?</p> <p>I understand that the iPod screen/navigation wheel may not be functional when docked?</p><div style="clear:both;"></div>
