If you want to view picture on your Avant from video-sources connected to BV7. You first need a RF-linkamplifier.

After you have a RF-linkamplifier installed you need to control the video-source with PUC/STB control on BV7. And Remember what Phillondon said about digital video distribution is NOT POSSIBLE on the link, you need the extra analog video signal from the videosource.

Re: Newbie Question....

couple of answers now i have got that pesky work off my desk...lol

mini mac is brand new so actually has 2 video outs...

avant is a later flat tube

have tried dvd ( BV7 is non-dvd version) with my external sony and never got it to work, but only tried it once and didnt put too much effort in

so n/music may or may not work it seems from the replies...

another question...if i get the sound to my avant...i presume i dont need to leave the BV7 "on", it will just go into stand-by

also.....BV7 question....is there a "picture mute" ??

also.....lol..while i am here...my normal ipod has all my music on ..but recorded from a pc...how do i sync this back to the mini mac ?....

So on your BV7, you need to rename you PC as V.AUX for example.

Re: Newbie Question....

andy:

in the bedroom i have an old avant with some Lab6000`s.....i cannot for the
life of me get this to turn on with the Mini as the source....

As your Mac mini is recent, you've connected it to the BV7 using HDMI or DVI.

Beovisions are not able to distribute digital video or digital sound. That is why you cannot display anything on the Avant.

A possible solution is to find a mini-displayport to VGA cable, and then a VGA to Composite converter. Then connect the composite cable along with analog sound to the scart of the BV7.

You can keep the DVI or HDMI cable. This connection should come in addition, so you can enjoy HD on you BV7, but in that way it will use the SD signal.

I have not tested the solution but that's the theory.

Re: Newbie Question....

Hey Andy

I have to say that adding N/music on your Beo4/Beo5 remote makes no sound available from your mac mini on your "avant bedroom".

If the Avant (in OPTION 6) don't respond to your PC command, then you should try to change the command/Input name on your BV7 to V.AUX.

And then give the Avant the V.aux command.

If you want to have picture from the mac mini on the Avant you need to connect one extra analog video cable (CVBS/Composite) to the BV7 from the mac mini. And I don't think it's possible because the mac mini only has Mini-dvi as Picture output.
