This can be fixed in the menu of the "source-selection" that you have for example PC.

Click MENU twice in the PC source, other possibilites there you should have a "size"-option.

Not a perect fix, but using Remote Buddy with Mac Mini and BS3/Bvis4 65" there is a function to "toggle" the overscan so that the top menu can be visible for editing purposes and then overscan for playing flms.

Personsally I have an overscan image and I VNC into the mac from another machine in my study .

Selecting FORMAT 1 on the Beo4 should fix the problem. I have a 17-inch MacBook Pro and I connect it frequently to my Beovision-7 and the Mac OS menu displays completely.

There is a way of setting overscan etc... in the BeoSystem 3. I will find out!

I have the same problem with a BeoVsion 9 and a Mac Mini, with a resolution of 1920x1080 the top menu bar is missing. In random cases it sometimes right and the top menu bar is there, but most of the time the top menu bar is only partly visible.

I have a very strong impression that B&O still have not resolved the HDMI issues with the BS3.

The Mac mini is a very sophisticated image processor, with excellent upscaling of DVDs, and with very good treatment of HD signals. Connected properly, it will even handle multi-channel audio at high resolutions. I don't have much experience with BeoSystem 3 as I have BeoLab 5 speakers and require an S/PDIF coax out from the processor to the speakers. I can't really assist when it comes to signal paths with BeoSystem 3 - but am becoming very comfortable with just connecting my Mac mini to my screen and audio processors. I am, unfortunately, paying the price of not being able to use a B&O remote for everything.

just connected my mac book again to the Beosystem 3. Hmmm....the BS3 does some odd things. I connected the mac directly to the Display (HD Ready BV4 50) with a much better result! Just a few pixel overscan, the mac identified the display and suggested the right resolution (1366x768). No idea why this does not work with the BS3.

Sorry to say this, but even after two years the BS3 software is still on a very disapointing quality level.

With my BV4-50 and a Besosystem 3 I have two issues which at the end stopped my using my mac book pro with it.

First the problem Ivan has described. To resolve this issue, unmark the "Overscan" box in the picture settings of the mac. So the black bars around the image should gone.

But than you run into the other issue with the overscan, so you will not see the menu bar. Unfortunately it looks like that the BS3 does not support 1:1 pixel mapping. I tried to adjust the overscan in the service menu but no luck.

I have the sameproblem with a 7-40 and a MacBookPro connected via DVI->HDMI.

With 1920x1080 the top menu bar is missing.

Any help?

I can see that it has problems if the mini resolution doesnt match the native of the BV4, but if it is set correct the BS3 should just pass that through ..... so should be a BS3 issue .......sorry to hear that it didnt work out for you ...

No luck.... I installed that soft, and also bought the upgrade to be able to make custom resolutions, but it was all worthless.

The best I could get was 3cm of black frame all over. It can't fill the whole screen when it's running through the BeoSystem 3. Funny thing is that if you run the minimac directly to the BV4 it works properly. BOA couldn't give an explanation nor a solution.

So unless somebody has a better idea, this is as good as it gets for me...

I was changing the resolution in the Mac. I don't know how to change resolutions in BS3.

I tried to change the Mac to all of the possible resolutions but none of them fill the whole screen. It does senses Beosystem 3 but It won't fill the screen, no matter what resolution I put, I either lose the picture of it doen't fill the whole screen.

I'm going to try that soft www.3dexpress.de altough it says it works under rosetta for the intel macs...

I'll let you know how I figure it out, thanks for your help.

So I am thinking if you force the Mini Mac to 720 x 480 it should work, it might even work with the native resolution of the BV 4 panel ... since the mac mini can go up to 1920 by 1080 pixels that should be OK for the BV4

?? i believe that the mac tries to recognize the external device .... and then chooses the optimal resolution .... so it should see the BS3. If the BS3 then doesn't rescale to the correct resolution that might be a software issue in it.

Where did you change the resolution settings, BS3 or Mac Mini? I heard about similiar problems with unsupported projectors and there is some sort of tool that I can't recall that can for the mac to a certain resolution even if it thinks its not supported ..... here you go.....

So normally the Mini would somehow try to figure out what the BS3 is and then offer you resolutions to choose from. With the tools above you can even try different resolutions that would not show up under the apple system settings.
