Correct! In fact, this will give you some extra functionality. You'll be able to choose the extra buttons the Apple TV gives you an option to configure when learning new commands.

I'm just thinking, what if you've got a B&O TV, but the STB controller doesn't hold the Apple TV, it must be possible to select any box in the list and have the apple tv learn that one, or I'm a wrong?

All you need is a code-translator, which takes your B&O remote ir-commands and turns them into universal ir-commands.

irTrans sells the box you need. Make sure you get the one that understands B&O.

It doesn't work on the same frequencies as the B&O remotes sadly!

hi there,

i just read that the new software version 2.3 for the AppleTV make it capable of learning the signals of other IR-based remotes, such that one can use them instead of the AppleTV remote .. and which, if it works, would circumvent the need for the STB upgrade on the Beovision (7-32, in my case) .. any one tried this out yet?
