Connecting Macbook Air + Iphone 4 to BL3?

Hi Beoworlders!

I am currently watching my mailbox for my new (and first B&O product) Beolab 3s, and prior to get them in house i need to prepare how to connect them to my Macbook and Iphone. Have heard that its quite simple setup with the Apple Airport Express.

-Have anyone tried it before? can i shuffle between macbook and iphone as the music source? or can it only be set up with one of them at the time?

-Do i need any cross-over cables to connect the bl3s to the AExpress?

-How do I set up iTunes to play wireless? can it be played wireless?

MBP -> WiFi -> BS9000 ?

Hi gang!

I would like to send music from iTunes, Spotify, radio from MBP 2010 (and iPad and iPhone) to my BS9000 aux and then ML all over the house (as the Mac Mini I got was faulty, see other thread). The obvious is getting an AirPort Express, but it feels like overkill as I already have a Time Capsule. I only need the possibilty to stream music over WiFi.

Is there some kind of simple device I can get? No need for remote control and so on.

If the Airport Express is the simpliest and cheapest solution, will there be any interference with the Time Capsule or will it enhance my wireless network? Any problems with interference with the wireless printer I already have?

As I understand it I will need some software to be able to stream other music then iTunes, like Airfoil?

I think it's to bad the Time Capsule doesn't fix this as well.

Considering BeoSound 8, but warning about the Ipad (1st generation) make me unsure

Hello. I am in Japan and visited the showroom today. In my new house, I had been hoping to mount the BeoSound 8 on the wall, but the salesperson said with my Ipad, it is not recommended. I also worry that, even if noto n the wall, when the Ipad is docked, my cats could knock up against it (an earthquake might cause this too) and bend the docking connector. Is this a worry?

I am wondering about two possibilities:

1) Just use the line out on the IPad. Or, better yet, just use the line out on my old 2006 MacBook Pro (with a DV cable to the TV) and I could use that as the source instead of the IPad. I assume this works. But would the remote still control my volume, or would I have to set it on both the BeoSound 8 AND the Ipad/ Mac?

2) If I DO use the IPAD, is there such a thing as an extender cable, so that I plug one end into the IPad and the other end, terminating in the same type of connector, plugs into the doc?

Previewed the tiny AIRPLAY Beo 12 today. Not bad, but less stereo separation. In some ways comparable to Geneva Labs(M). I much prefer the BeoSound 8 (the cheapest B&O in my budget), which bears some resemblance in sound to the Geneva (L) model, the one that has a CP Player attached. But still teh B&O 8 sounds better.

Connect Imac to MX7000?

I just bought an used MX7000 and really love how nice it looks and sounds.

But I have a problem: I´m trying to connect my Imac to the television, I get picture, but just black and white... does anyone know why this is? and how to solve the problem?

MCL 2P - connect to macbook

Hi,

I found this MCL 2P - amplifier, including two speakers and 2 other elements (a 2020 and a 2046) in the house we just bought. I'm not familiar with the system.

I don't especially want to have a home audio system, since we're not going to use the house as it used to be used.

What I would like though is to use the amplifier and speakers to connect the to my computer and just play loud music, simple as that.

For this I have two questions:

1. B&O seems to work with a special kind of audio cable, is it possible to connect a normal jack to the amplifier?

2. does my idea make any sense, cause I don't find a volume control on the amplifier. How will I be able to control the volume?

Apple Remote PUC not working anymore.

Hi all

I recently had my Apple remote PUC updated in relation to some other software updates. Before the update, i controlled Plex on my Mac mini without any trouble, however after the update, i cant seem to activate "Play". Before the update, either "Play" or "Stop" on my Beo4 would correspond to "Go/play" on the Apple Remote, but not anymore. I have tried all buttons on my Beo4 and navigation works with the joystick and all, just not selecting things. Has anyone got this working? (tried both with navigation remote on and off in the TV settings, without any changes)

I am running on BV 7-40 MK V, SW 5.06.

Mac - Beovision 10 - BC2

Goodmorning to all (it atleast morning in Sweden)

I have a BV10 that I have connected my speakers, BC2 and MacMini to. The MacMini is connected to the BV with a HDMI cable. I have the TV set to PC and the mac screen appears. Picture and sound is good. I listen to music and movies. SOund out in the Mac is set to: Beovision.
I also want to be able to listen to music without having the TV on. Does enyont know what to do here?

I have tried to connect my usb-DA-Aux in to the BC2 no sound here. I can set the audio out to USBsound. But then I dont get the sound to my BV.. I dont want to change the settings all the time.

When I have the BV set to PC - music out in the speakers I cant listen to the same source in my kitchen..

I have a sqeezebox aswell, I can use that one to the aux, but it takes out alto of the soundquality..

Does anyone have the same problem? Or better a solution :)

Mac LION 10.7.2 impacts Analogue/Digital audio (HDMI)

I upgraded the MacMini to OSX LION 10.7.2 and suddenly found that no audio was coming out of the BV8.

I went down a number of wrong paths (cable borken, reset microcode, HDMI cable not matching HDMI 1.4 support, etc) before discovering it was a "feechure" that Apple introduced:

I've now recieved a reply from one of the Senior Technical Advisors at AppleCare who was kind enough to follow up with engineering.

Apparently this change was intentional in 10.7.2 to bring the behaviour of the headphone jack in line with the experience of users who have external displays connected via Thunderbolt !

I've replied to this advice by pointing out that this change actually removes functionality that was present in 10.7.0 / 10.7.1 and requested that the issue is esculated back to engineering for further comment..

I'll post again when I recieve the next reply.

I have my audio back, but I no longer have a software switch in LinkPlayer to go from main room audio to N-MUSIC in link rooms ... now I have to plug/unplug the BeoPort's audio jack onto the MacMini :-(

ATV2 + Beovision 10 = choppy/stuttering playback

The problem is very visible in sideways panning shots or on moving objects, which gets a choppy movements occuring every 5-6 sec. The exact same video files plays back fluently on a WDTV box. Tested with 720p and different lower resolution files. Also tried different output settings on ATV2, 720p 50hz or 60hz and 480p, but no luck.

A discussion on the XBMC forum suggests disabling any motion improvement features in the TV, but i don't see any option for disableing the BV10s "Motion Picture Improvement" feature...

Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

(PS. I have the same behavior when playing movies from my MacBook Pro via a mini displayport to hdmi adapter on the BV10.)

Beolab 5 and Linkplayer

Is anyone using Linkplayer with the Beolab 5. My Audiomaster is a Beocenter 2.

Problem! The Speakers are turning on the Digital Input only when pressing "CD" on the Beo4....

Any Configuration ideas for this approach?

Playlists iTunes to Beoplayer

Does anyone know whether there is a way to convert an iTunes playlist to a Beoplayer playlist? iTunes can export but there is no utility in Beoplayer to import. Are the Beoplayer playlists stored somewhere and can they be edited?

I have a BV 7-40 and several beolabs but don't want to buy any B&O audio master device.

My MacMini holds my music/video/internet radio and therefore a B&O audio master would be plain redundant.

Is there any 3rd interface that would allow me to connect the Mac smoothly with my B& TV/loudspeaker gear?

Extend Remote on MacBook

I have a MacBook and a recently purchashed Beo5. I am wanting to control my Mac with my Beo5 however I do not want to leave MacBook upstairs. I'm currently using the Apple Remote App which is fantastic however to control the Mac with Beo5 I would need to extend the range on the Mac remote eye.

Any ideas how this can be done? Thanks!

MacBook Pro to BeoLab 8002

I recently acquired a pair of BeoLab 8002 speakers and I wish to connect them directly to a MacBook Pro computer that serves as a music/tv/media computer. There are two things I'm uncertain of that I'd be very thankful for getting help with :)

First, is the internal soundcard in the MacBook Pro good enough for these speakers (via the mini jack output) or should I get a professional USB soundcard that gets digital output from the computer and sends analog to the speakers?

Second, If I just use the internal soundcard what is the best way to connect the computer to the speaker?

SETUP 1:

And i've connected those two together, and then the Male to one 8002 speaker and a Male-Male DIN8 to the other speaker and the last Female DIN7. The problem with this is two-fold. Both speakers are only picking up the left audio signal and also there's major hum or buzz sound at all times.

SETUP 2:

So that's Mini Jack to two PowerLink wires that hook up to both speakers (I'm assuming one is wired with left signal and the other wire has the right signal). I'm sure this will fix the left/right signal issues I'm having with SETUP 1 but I'm wondering if there will still be the humming sound and also if the sound quality will be good enough.

Do you guys have any recommendations or tips for me in this regard? I've tried searching the forum but haven't found any post that answers my questions.. :) Thanks in advance for any help!

bv7 & linkplayer

hello,

i recently took delivery of a bv7-40 :)

unfortunately, this means i can no longer distribute n.music from my mac mini with bm-link. the bv7 is a videomaster only. my former videomaster/audiomaster is a bc1 and it can not be declared as an audiomaster only. so i turned to linkplayer (v1.1) which can play the role of audiomaster.

and i can not get it to work.

i have declared linkplayer as option 0 (no audiomaster, beoport in same room as videomaster). linkplayer loads on my mac mini without error. it reacts to the l-n.music command from my beo4 via the bv7.

strangely enough it reacts by opening system preferences, then the sound preference pane. linkplayer then switches from standby to n.music and starts playing track 1 from my itunes library.

however, the bv7 does not turn on (little indicator light stays red) and no music comes through speakers.

am i missing something, has anyone seen this behavior before ? any and all help appreciated,

Problems with BeoPort PC2 - Mac - BeoCenter2 - BeoLab3

I have MacMini and a BeoCenter2. The Mac has been connected to the BeO trough the aux. This works fine. But I wanted the N.Music and N.Radio.

So I got a used BeoPort PC 2 from my Beo dealer.

I have read this forum, manuals several times, but I cant get this to work.

I have connected the BeoPort as supposed. Usb from computer, 3,5 mm audio. Masterlink to BeoCenter2 and the powerlinks in the BeoPort.

When I do this the remote cant start the BeoCenter2. And the N.Music/Radio does not work.
I have the BM Link software - I also uppgraded the BeoPort with the new software.

I have tried the Link player, set it in all commands.

Nothing will seem to work.

Are there anyone out there who knows what can be wrong here.

I cant get to the registration page at Bangolufsen either.. The manual that I have is strictly PC. And Looking at Odlunds page I do everything like he says..

Can the masterLink cable be broken and be the source of my problems or do I need any other software for this?

The software on my Imac is the latest.

Beolab 4000 & Mac & Bluetooth

Hi all,

Didn't see this in the search section.

I've been out of touch with the B&O community for about 3 years + now since i put all my gear in storage (heaven forbid!) when i moved into my now ex-girlfriend's place who had to little energetic boys and couldn't take a chance of getting my stuff trashed.

My question is:

I'm now living in a little guest house and it doesn't really make sense for me to set up my BS4 and 4000's in this small space. I was wondering, are there any viable ways of maybe using blue tooth or other wireless set up with my macbook pro and the Beolab 4000s. I don't know if B&O have come out with little devices to connect the speakers WITHOUT using my BS4 or other larger system.

Audioengine makes a pretty nice set of powered, bookshelf speakers (A5) that are set up to use the airport express so i can transmit my Itunes music directly to the speakers with little trouble. I just don't want to set up my BS4 at this time and was hoping i could get away with just the speakers and something small that would connect the mac to them.

Help please! Cannot find firmware update software for BeoLink PC2 (aka BeoPort)

Hi All, please can someone help me wit some advice?

A recent power failure blew up my BeoPort which has been working fine for over 4 years (USB port stopped responding), so I managed to source another one (second-hand). On installing it the LinlPlayer2 software recognised the BeopPort but wouldn't connect to the Audio master (BS3200) or the video master (Avant). Despite trying various power cycling, rebooting Mac etc. the red symbols alongside audio & video master in preference panel stayed stubbornly red. The only thing of difference is the new BeoPort is firmware v1.30 & the older one was 1.31.

To investigate further I connected the BeoPort to a PC running W7 & BeoPort app and the device then saw and happily controlled the remote audio & video masters. However, wheni tried the Advanced tab and firmware upgrade option the message came back " no need to upgrade"

My questions are:

1. Having search B&o's website I cannot find the 1.31 release of the firmware, where can I get this?

2. Does anyone with LinkPlayer2 have a BeoPort running 1.30 satisforily (if so I'm on the wrong track)?

3. Has anyone any ideas how I can get my "new" BeoPort to recognise my audio & video masters?
