Of course it could simply be that there is more money in parting out a unit than selling it as a whole in which case I would call that vandalism.

Chris.

Spending hours repairing/restoring an item that will only be worth "peanuts"does not make economic sense. Much more cost effective/sensible/profitable to break it up for spares. If the market is "out there", some will exploit it !

I admit to buying a spares item from QDA. The wrong item arrived at first but they replaced it with no hassle. I have no complaints with their service and the item worked just fine and allowed me to sell a working Beocenter. I normally have a good stock of spares but I will use a "scrap yard" if appropriate.

It's nothing to do with vandalism!

Re: Not as good as they say...

Wow, and to look at the gold star award on the side makes you realise how they either beg people to leave 5 starts or non at all, (don't you hate that!!!!) or the system ebay uses is fatally flawed***!!

There are a lot of items on ebay that don't meet the description atm... I think in hard times people simply get more and more desperate...

I bought a complete CD mechanism for a Beocenter 9500, that was sold to me in perfect working order. I bought it for a spare knowing I'd need to replace mine. When it was installed it didn't work. I contacted them to let them know (more than once), and never got a response...

I guess Buyer Beware!

Yes, I know what you mean. They also seem to sell at the top end of the pricing scale. Makes you wonder if there items are worth that much reading the first post in this thread.

I'm always intrigued by this seller. They seem to sell a LOT of stuff for spares/repair & parts from scrapped units, yet they also offer quotes on repairs to B&O items.

If they were any good then surely they would repair the items they sell prior to listing wouldn't they & not break so many Beocenters for parts In this case would you want anything "restored" by them?

Of course it could simply be that there is more money in parting out a unit than selling it as a whole in which case I would call that vandalism.

I don't understand why people try to make out things they are selling are in better condition than they are - it will only lead to dissapointment and arguments.

I always take close up photos of any cosmetic marks or scratches that ususally look worse in the photos than they actually are. I've never had a complaint from a buyer about being dissapointed with an item's condition.

To describe this as being in "very very good condition" is quite frankly missleading. At least the photos aren't that bad and people can see what they're getting.

I recently cleared out a few bits and pieces that I had and had no use for. This was one of them.

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/B-O-BANG-AND-OLUFSEN-BEOMASTER-3000-2-WHITE-VGC-/260739652300?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item3cb54b5acc

Put it this way I sold it with a couple of other bits for £40 as spares or repair. The top has some bad scratches the face plate is scratched the sliders are yellowed. The case has chips and was loose etc etc. It really was a spares lot and nowhere near good enough to keep. Cosmetically I would give it a 3 or 4 out of 10 where as they are saying its great whilst showing only dimly lit pictures.

I would not normally comment like this and never have a problem with people making a profit on things (which I have done myself in the past) but if I bought this at the price they are asking I would be very disappointed.
