Just to learn something from you guys...:-) There are a few records that are recorded as Quadro. So to have a decoder in a beogram is nowadays for collection vallue?

There's not much use for it as a CD-4 decoder, if that's what you're after - not that many records exist, most people won't have the quad amp/speaker setup, you'll need an expensive new/renovated cartridge so that it'll actually play in quad, and finally the recordings aren't that groundbreaking anyway.

The real value is that it functions as a RIAA preamp even in stereo, so the Beogram will have line level outputs and will plug straight into modern kit. And it's an excellent quality preamp as well (may need a recap at this time to live up to its own standards, though).

I have a 4002 without the decoder but with the thick cable and a switch on the side.

It has a dummy decoder board!

They could be upgraded. If you check the cable it should be extremly thick there is also a switch in the side of the unit, however that is not a guarrentee that it has a demodulator board built in - I think you would have to remove the servo panel to be absolutely sure!

I saved you the trip! What a dissapointment this was. It looked horrible, the looks of the alum. fronts was almost brown. BM6000 and record player 4002 (I'm sure I thought I have read in the ad it was BG6000) were in full working condition. Some lights on the BM6000 were defect. Beocord was also okay. Speakers were also okay with some light marks and scuffs on the top. Remote looks ok but was not working! For someone who wants to do a project refurbishing this set it would be a challenge. I didn't want to do that...

I cancelled the deal mainly because I thought the BG6000 was part of the set.

Tomorrow (Saturday) I'm going to see this set and test it on functionallity but the owner does not have any batteries in the BM6000 remote. What kind of batteries does this remote needs so I can bring them with me.
