I normally clean in a dishwasher/general cleaning solution.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;The platter is from a Beogram 8002 and in fine condition.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;I used a ultrasonic cleaner to clean the very dirty platter (8002 bought on ebay). &lt;br /&gt;The result was fatal. All the black lines (and parts of the white one too) went off and unremovable white &lt;br /&gt;spots appeared. the result is that the 8002 cannot find anymore the beginning of the vinyl-record.&lt;br /&gt;The pick-up arm always lowers, irrespective if there is a vinyl-record on the platter or not.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Asking on the forum told me, that the sensing arm needs the black lines.....&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;would be very happy to get a replacement for it.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;thanks&lt;/p&gt;
