The old tape has no problems with adhesion (as you'll notice when you try to strip it away), but the foam backing material the glue rides on crumbles away.

The panel removal & replacement is described in the service manuals which you can download from the site as you're a silver member

They won't help with the repair though. You'll find the old tape attaches the glass to some plastic frames, and in an old kit you won't have problems separating them. The remains of the old tape will be more work, and the end result won't work unless you do it properly.

Whatever you do, leave the capacitive touch control fields on the underside of the glass well alone - no detergents, don't even touch them.

I think there was a very good description on specifically 4500 panel repair on the forum somewhere... perhaps someone with more attention span than I currently have can find it

Re: Beosystem 4500 wall mounts

Thanks for the pointers.

I guess I could try to heat the glas panels with a heat gun to soften the double sided tape?
Would this make it easier to pull them of? Anybody tried this?

Would heating the glas actually re-soften and possibly increase the adhesion of the tape without having to replace the tape???
Any pointers and advice wil be warmly embraced. (No pun intended)

Re: Beosystem 4500 wall mounts

If you are going to mount it on a wall. It is well worth replacing the tape that holds the glass panels on. If you look on Ebay you will see quite a few with missing glass panels. This is usually where they have been wall mounted, and the tape has failed due to age. You cannot get the panels any more either.

It looks pristine in my retro lounge, but not exquisite! I NEED IT TO HANG ON THE WALL!

Hence I'm looking for Beosystem 4500 wall mounts or prints on how to fabricate them.
If anybody has a single unit mount/bracket or the complete set for sale, PLS let me know.

In lieu of a bracket, has anybody fabricated one, that could send me a copy of the drawings?
