Have you got a link for that? I think I will do another batch this time for the CD 4500. I know what the procedure is making these panels so I can do it for lots of other B&O units like the BC9500 No secrets so many others here on this forum can make these themself. The only thing you need is glass, conductive paint, glass paint red and green, black paint, foil or blackened spray, tape and a company who can do the laser engraving.

Re: Beomaster/CD 4500 glass panel replacement

Awesome Leslie. By the way, I once restored the finish on the back of one of the glass panels for an MCP and used a spray paint specifically made to simulate stained glass. It looked identical to the original and with no fear of later flaking off like the cellophane-style original.

Have been using a sort of sunfoil and I can't manage to get a smooth surface on the glasspanel. Other members advised me to use a sort of spray (Motip) but (I think) that cannot be used on glass. It's more meant for plastic. Will try to improve the quality of these panels though.

If it's that product made for darking the rearlights on cars you are talking about, then it can be used on glass as well! I used this with succes to coat the display window on the one side on one of my AV 9000 control centers. It's really just a dark clearcoat.

The paint seems rather thick - maybe it would work better if you thin it and then apply several layers? A lot more work unfortunately.

Dunno if another layer of that light dispersing opaque tape on the LED frames would help. Just noticed that I have on my desk a roll of office tape that looks exactly the same! Or if you could colour it with overhead transparency pens or some such, and just leave the glass unpainted...

Re: Beomaster/CD 4500 glass panel replacement

tournedos:

Did you consider using some kind of coloured foil for the lighted areas, similar to the display windows?
