Whatever you do, DON'T get tempted into adjusting laser current etc.
You can easily measure the laser current but don't touch any adjustments.
The majority of faults in these decks are exactly capacitors and the ones on the
servo board in particular.
C2103 needs to be a blue Philips. Forget low-ESR and other "hype" types.

I know. I replaced all the caps including the c2103 by a blue philips 47uF I have done this also on a CD 5500 and that one works like a charm. I will measure the current and if i got current my diagnose will be a faulty laser. Any other suggestions?

Re: laser unit wanted for beogram cd 3500/4500 CDM4

Whatever you do, DON'T get tempted into adjusting laser current etc.
You can easily measure the laser current but don't touch any adjustments.
The majority of faults in these decks are exactly capacitors and the ones on the
servo board in particular.
C2103 needs to be a blue Philips. So I replaced all of the caps on the filterboard. The result is that the cd spins much longer 10-15 seconds and then shuts off in standby mode. I looked at the laser and i do not see any glow. That is why my diagnose is a faulty laser. If you have any ideas what (and where to measure) tht put my in a way to solve this i am gratefull

Re: laser unit wanted for beogram cd 3500/4500 CDM4

Are you sure that your original laser is faulty??
